Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council has released its annual financial audit alongside an updated strategic plan outlining priorities through 2030.
The financial audit details municipal operations, capital spending, and program funding for the previous fiscal year. Results show a balanced budget across community administration, public works, and social services. Revenue sources include federal transfers, provincial agreements, and band-operated enterprises.
Key capital expenditures over the past year focused on water line extensions, housing maintenance, and road repairs across the territory. Administrative expenses remained within budgeted allocations, according to the accounting firm that conducted the independent review.
Accompanying the audit is the 2025 to 2030 Strategic Plan, which identifies five main priorities for Council administration. These priorities include infrastructure expansion, language preservation, economic development, housing construction, and environmental stewardship.
Infrastructure goals focus on extending clean drinking water access to additional residential roads and upgrading waste management facilities. Housing targets aim to increase the local housing stock through new residential builds and structural repair programs.
The strategic plan also outlines steps to support local businesses through streamlined permit processes and training initiatives. Environmental stewardship goals address riverbank management along the Grand River and monitoring local land development proposals.
Council held public information sessions at the community hall to present the documents to residents. Community members raised questions regarding project timelines, housing waitlists, and funding distribution for youth programs.
Department heads addressed questions during the meeting and confirmed that quarterly progress reports will be made public. Detailed copies of the financial audit and strategic plan are available at the administration office and on the official Six Nations website.
