Residents displaced by 2025 flooding at Iroquois Lodge move closer to home while a new lodge is planned

About 50 elders from Six Nations who were displaced by flooding at Iroquois Lodge in 2025 have moved into the former Fox Ridge long-term care home in Brantford.

The move brings them closer to family and community after more than a year in temporary housing farther away. Six Nations and the City of Brantford worked through the arrangements while planning continues for a new Iroquois Lodge in Ohsweken.

Residents were greeted with familiar food and a more accessible location. The temporary home is expected to serve until the permanent rebuild is complete.
