Community in limbo over fate of FNEA
SIX NATIONS: The Community Education Meeting was well attended last Wednesday night as the Cayuga Room at Six Nations Polytech was packed shoulder to shoulder. Facilitated by Richard Powless, the meeting opened up with an update on the First Nations Education Act.

Local Day Care May Have to Close Its Doors
SIX NATIONS – Privately owned day care, Little & Littler Treasures may be forced to shut its doors within the next few months if they can’t come up with funding dollars. Owner Sarah Jayne, approached Band Council last week to ask for financial assistance.

This term of council I have again volunteered to focus on Education. I do have my work cut out for me because there are so many issues with Education right now. This report is to highlight many of those issues.

SN Bantams go down 2-0 in series against South Bruce
OHSWEKEN – After taking game #1 of the series by a score of 5-0, the South Bruce Mildman Monarchs came to the Gaylord Powless Arena Saturday afternoon and left with a 2-0 lead in the playoff series by outscoring Six Nations Bantam Reps 3-1. It was Game #2 of a six point series.
Six Nations man competes in world ice carving competition
OTTAWA – Six Nations own, Ryan Hill competed in the annual Winterlude Ice Carving Competition in Ottawa last weekend. Winterlude is held in the nation’s capital every year and celebrates the season.
Six Nations “Ohsweken” firehall demolition
The Six Nations Fire Hall is now a thing of the past. This week wrecking crews tore down the old Fire Hall after it was discovered to be overrun by mold to the point where it was deemed unsafe and unredeemable. The building was condemned in June. Thanks to a generous $2 million gift to the community from local businessmen Jerry Montour and Ken Hill of Grand River Enterprises Six Nations Fire Fighters will not be homeless for long. OHSWEKEN – The Six Nations Bantams’ disappointment could only be matched by the Norwich Knighthawks’ elation Sunday afternoon at the Gaylord Powless Arena in a 5-5 tie game.
